The recently opened
Shanti Ananda (sister resort to the renowned Himalayas Ananda), is set on the unspoiled southern coast of Mauritius, with the added benefit of a private bay and white sandy beaches.
What to expect: Within hours of your arrival, you're well on your way to a cleaner mental and physical lifestyle. First stop is a consultation with the on-site accredited Ayurvedic doctor, who determines your dosha type and prescribes a diet, exercise and treatment regime for your stay. Then you're free to swim in the multiple pools, work out in the state-of-the-art gym and participate in the meditation classes in the pavilion. The Ayurvedic treatments are extensive (including Abhyanga - a full-body pressure-point massage - Shirodhara, a warm oil therapy, and Panchakarma, a potent detoxification ritual) and entirely authentic, using traditional oils and techniques, which work to improve vitality both internally and externally.
The result: Your prescribed Ayurvedic diet - determined by your dosha - is specifically designed to improve digestion and cleanse the organs, which results in more energy and a much clearer complexion.
Getting there: Rooms start from £2,345 per person, based on the seven night wellness package. The price includes BA flights and transfers. Call 020 7284 3344 or visit essentialescapes.com
