Portugal has an endless ream of long sandy beaches, beautiful architecture and a warm sunny climate year round. A short flight time of just less than three hours and the open attitude of Portuguese people towards families, make this an ever popular destination.
The country varies greatly from north to south, and coastal to inland. With its miles of clean, sandy coastline, water sports are very popular, and there are great opportunities for horse-riding around the wild landscapes.
Much of Portuguese cuisine centres on fish, including grilled sardines and the hugely popular bacalhau (dry cod). Evening entertainment abounds with plenty of open air cafes and tavernas and for wine buffs, Portugal’s famous Port Wine, or a nice bottle of Bastardo would whet the palate nicely.
