Barbados

Tourism is at the heart of Barbados’s main industry with some going so far as to call the island the ‘little England’ of the Caribbean. This epithet is perhaps a little untrue given the islands famous sandy beaches on the west coast, and rugged cliffs and dramatic coastlines on the east coast.

The Bajans, as they like to call themselves, are fiercely proud of their little gem of an island and will boast at every opportunity that there are more churches than bars! This is less evident on the west coast where lively night spots and exclusive restaurants intersperse with an abundance of luxury hotels. However the sugar plantations, colonial feel of Bridgetown, the capital, and small old stone Anglican churches that dot the landscapes are a few of reasons why Barbados has retained its charm.

The island’s consistent popularity as the ultimate Caribbean getaway is testament to the fact that Barbados has it all, a home away from home with a touch of the exotic.
