Spiritual Warrior – A life-changing Kundalini Yoga Retreat in Sri Lanka, from holistic centre Alchemy. Dates: 1 April to 11 April 2010
The new Spiritual Warrior Kundalini Yoga Retreat aims to find the ‘spiritual warrior’ in you, in order to help you get the most out of life. Unusually, it is based around Kundalini Yoga and led by two of the UK’s leading Kundalini Yoga teachers, Amir Jaan and Simon Andriesz.
The retreat begins at Talalla Retreat – situated just metres from Sri Lanka’s most peaceful and protected beach.
The Spiritual Warrior Training is a method of interactive self-inquiry, helping you find the inner strength to push through your obstacles and fears. Eight different modules have been designed to reveal new and profound insights into your own nature, so you’re free to reach your full potential.
Each day starts with an optional early morning meditation, yoga practice and singing of mantras (together known as Sadhana) for those wanting an authentic yogic experience. Then it’s your main yoga class of the day, mid morning. Come evening, there’ll be a light yoga session followed by a deep meditation to consolidate the day’s practice, and then optional gatherings.
In the retreat’s main daily yoga class, you’ll perform specific exercises according to that day’s module. These modules include acceptance, core strength and bravery. Verbal explanations will be given too in this detailed master class. Known as the yoga of awareness, Kundalini Yoga involves breathing exercises, sequences of yoga postures, sound, chanting words (mantras) and meditation.
The retreat culminates in a very special experience – climbing the famous mountain, Adam’s Peak. It’s a popular pilgrimage destination and sacred to some of the world’s major religions. After a long hike up, you’ll set up camp and sleep until sunrise for spectacular views. The climb is not obligatory, but the idea is the week’s training will have given you the inner strength for this and other challenges in modern life.
The first and last nights are spent at the Galle Face Hotel in Columbo, Sri Lanka, which overlooks the Indian Ocean (B&B basis); the next seven nights at Talalla Retreat (full board) and the penultimate night - on Adam’s Peak (optional).
Talalla Retreat has a large open-sided yoga pavilion set in tranquil surroundings, a spa and spring-water swimming pool. All rooms are bright and airy and each has its own private balcony or veranda.
There will be free time to explore the incredible setting for this retreat, to swim in the pool and to indulge in Ayurvedic treatments. The nourishment continues with skilfully prepared and locally produced cuisine. The high-quality food served will be vegetarian, but fresh fish will be available.
Quite simply, the retreat aims to be an all round life-enhancing experience. Contact us for more information. Prices from £1,790
